Hundreds of hungry children in Pima County will be fed because of a major boost in funding to the Snack Paks for Kids Program. The Angel Charity for Children is donating more than 50 thousand dollars to the Community Food Bank’s weekend meal program. The increase in funding means that nearly one thousand kids will have food to take home with them over the weekends. The Snak Paks contain nutritious non-perishable food items that can fit in a small grocery bag.

The new schools added to the program are Blenman Elementary, Drake Middle School, Holaway Elementary, Laguna Elementary, Los Amigos Elementary and Southside Community School.

While the program helps alleviate hunger pains it’s also feeding children’s minds. Shari Lowell of the Angel Charity for Children says kids who are going home without nourishment experience hunger related stress and don’t concentrate or perform as well in school. There are 26 thousand children living at the poverty level in Tucson. To find out how you can help click on this link.
